The Last Will and Testament of Mary Burt (nee West) of West Orchard, Dorset 1756 - 1846
 

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Burt of West Orchard in the County of Dorset Widow.

First I give will and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Hunt, Wife of James Hunt the sum of nine pounds to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named.

I give unto my eight Grandchildren namely Elizabeth Terry, Amelia Seymour, James Hunt the younger, Lavinia Hunt, Harry Hunt, Selina Hunt, Cornelius Hunt and Matilda Hunt sons and daughters of the said James Hunt and my said Daughter Elizabeth Hunt to each and every of them respectively the sum of nine pounds to be paid them by my Executor hereinafter named as they respectively attain the age of twenty one years,

I give and bequeath unto my Granddaughter the said Elizabeth Terry my bed and Bedstead.

I give and bequeath unto my Granddaughter the said Amelia Seymour my Mahogany Chest of Drawers.

I give and bequeath unto my Grandson James Hunt my Clock and Case.

I give and Bequeath unto my Granddaughter Lavinia Hunt the large table

I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Hunt all the residue and remainder of my Household goods and furniture and it is my particular wish and desire that if any dispute shall arise between my said Grandchildren respecting the division of my househld goods and furniture the decision of their said Father and Mother in the matter shall be final.

I give and bequeath all my clothes and wearing apparel whatsover the same may consist of at the time of my decease unto my said daughter Elizabeth the wife of the said James Hunt.

I give and bequeath all and singular the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects whatsover whether the same consists of money in the funds out upon security or of interest money in the house or otherwise howsover or whatsover the same may consist of unto the said James Hunt the Elder and his assigns for ever.

And lastly I do nominate and appoint the said James Hunt the elder sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made or executed.

In witness whereof I the said Mary Burt the testator have to my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of paper the first thereof set my hand and to this second and last thereof my hand and seal this twenty third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty four.

The Mark and Seal X of Mary Burt Signed sealed published and declared by the said Mary Burt the testator as and for her last will and testament the erasure and writing over the same in the second line line of the first sheet thereof having been first made in the presence of us who in her presence and in the presence of each other at her request have signed our names as witnesses thereto Amelia Seymour West Orchard - James Hunt ??? & Marnhull Witness

Proved at London 5th Septmber 1846 before the Judge by the Oath of James Hunt the elder the sole executor to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn by Comon duly to administer
